In the last decade some projects for a new stadium have been put forward, though issues with funding and location has stifled these plans.
As a result, a plan of action was proposed to gradually develop the existing stadium, and finally, the first stage of improvements were completed just after the beginning of the , with future work to be carried out if a year lease can be agreed with the city council.
The first stage improvements included a revelation in the removal of the pitch side barrier, one of the first Serie A clubs to make this change, along with better management and substitute bench facilities and the introduction of luxury Sky Boxes atop the grandstand complete with sofas, TV screens and amenities.
At the same time, the press box has been lowered and moved, bringing reporters closer to the action offering them a better all-round match experience.
These improvements have come at the cost of reducing the overall capacity by around 3, seats. From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia.

Turn left at the Great Western and there are a number of bus stops there. This area is Porta Nuova. From here get the no 6 to Monterosso or San Colombano depending on how far it is going.
Get off when you see the stadium, or ask for stadio. Again this is about 10 mins. The club website mentions using bus no 9 from the station, however there is no mention of this on the local bus website.
Maybe they detour on matchdays. If in doubt use one of my initial reccomendations, as it's pretty quick and the buses regular. I prefer the 1st, as I'm a big fan of the old town.
If you are after tickets for the match go to https: Alternatively, they are on sale outside the ground from 10 until kick off on Sunday - don't forget your passports!
You may also wish to contact Atalanta ticketing direct for any special requirements biglietteria atalanta. There's also a tabbacconist that sells tickets on the walk up to Porta Nuova left hand side again , before the Great Western, but I'm unsure if they sell them on the day.
Also note that Curva Pisani the home end is closed after the recent problems, so obviously less tickets to go round.
If you need any more help please let me know - I'm off to the same game this weekend - I'll look out for 2 lost Scotsmen!
